What is this dog – she’s a 50-50 mix – of what?

She is my curent icon picture, and can be viewed better on my 360 page. We were told what she is – a 50-50 mix, but we sometimes have doubts about what her linneage may really be. She’s 34lbs, 20″ at the shoulder, great friendly personality, no excessive barking, but will bark at strangers. She loves to sniff out where the squirrels have been, and so desperately wants to catch one! So – what are your thoughts? What is she?
Her tail is docked.
More info- Shadie was one of 7 in the litter. At 12 weeks old, her spots were almost non-existant. One litter mate was very similar to Shadie. Three had the black mask and ears like Shadie, but had already developed spots of varying sizes. Two littermates were TOTALLY BROWN, and significantly smaller in size (with a very JR look).
Thanks everyone! The pet store said she is a Jack Russel & Beagle mix. But all the pictures I’ve seen of a “Jack-a bee” don’t look like her at all. We agree she’s half JR! And most of you think her other half is a spaniel or border colie? It could definately fit. I’m sending this to public vote – I’d all give you ten points if I could. Thanks.

what is the best pellet gun for hunting jackrabbits and some squirrels?

im going to a ranch in the mountains and i need to kill some off.

Squirrels or raccoons?

Its been about a week since i filled up my deer feeder and i just went to fill it up and noticed something has tried to chew through the lid of the feeder by the hinge. I know theres coons out here and i have a coon cage on the box and spinner but i dont see how coons could get on top of the feeder. Do you think it could be squirrels?
Well i live in texas. And live way out in the country and i allways have problems with coons. Thats why i have a coon cage. I have set and watched 3 raccoons spin half the corn out of my feeder.. lol but i just didnt know if they would chew through thick plastic.

how can i kill these squirrels is my yard?

there are several squirrels that live in the trees near my house. every day they eat my garden or eat at my bird feeder. im not interested in just keeping them away…i want them dead. it is illegal where i live to shoot them with a gun so that wont work. i have tried shooting them with a bow but my aim is too poor to get them. i dont want to poison them because i dont want the toxins in my yard and i dont want to risk poisoning the birds. is there a trap that i could make myself out of household items (i dont want to buy one) or some sort of explosive that could be remotely detonated (again that i could make myself). this is more about the challenge of the hunt than about keeping my garden safe. these squirrles are frickin smart! any ideas?

How to tame a stray cat!! 10 Points!?

I live out in the middle of the country and we get a lot of wild animals that come and go. Normally we get 2-5 raccoons every night and a few other animals like squirrels and what not. But lately we have had this adorable black cat come around; she usually comes onto our deck and eats out of our feeders (where we put all our scrap food for the wild animals to eat). Anyways, this cat has been showing up a few times everyday eating out of our feeder and just hanging out around our yard (3 acres). Unfortunately every time me or any of my family members goes anywhere near the cat, it runs away in a frantic. I really wanted to tame this cat and take him into our care, because he’s so cute, and I don’t want him to die or get hurt out in the wild.

I have this old doghouse kind of shelter on the side of my house, which is a perfect spot for a stray animal to sleep and stay warm and safe at night. So when I went to put a bunch of blankets and pillows and food and milk in the little house, and to my amazement I found a litter of baby kittens! Right before I peaked into the house, the momma cat took of running trying to make us notice her and not her kittens, so when I put the blankets and food in there, I found her kittens.

Anyways, I brought out a broom and cleaned up a little bit in the house (got the leaves and acorns out) and put the blankets down and the food and left it at that, hoping that the momma cat would appreciate what we did and come around more and let us help her.

We came back the next day, and the momma cat unfortunately moved her kittens to a new spot (don’t know where). We really wanted to take in the mom and the kittens and help them, because the kittens are barely 5 weeks old at that. And they really need food and help.

Anyways, the mom cat still comes around and eats out of our feeder, but still when we try to go near her she takes of running towards the woods (where I think she hid her kittens).

What can I do to get her to come around MORE and for her to like us and want to be around us, so we can take care of her and her kittens? Is there anything I can do to help her understand that we are here to help her and her babies, and not hurt them?

Wild Bird feeder question?

I put out 2 wild bird feeders, same food in both. The birds are flocking to the one feeder in the front yard, but are ignoring the one in the back yard. They are both placed close to trees and are the kind that hang on a pole. Any ideas why? I have another feeder in the backyard and the birds eat from it, as do the squirrels.
