How to tame a stray cat!! 10 Points!?

I live out in the middle of the country and we get a lot of wild animals that come and go. Normally we get 2-5 raccoons every night and a few other animals like squirrels and what not. But lately we have had this adorable black cat come around; she usually comes onto our deck and eats out of our feeders (where we put all our scrap food for the wild animals to eat). Anyways, this cat has been showing up a few times everyday eating out of our feeder and just hanging out around our yard (3 acres). Unfortunately every time me or any of my family members goes anywhere near the cat, it runs away in a frantic. I really wanted to tame this cat and take him into our care, because he’s so cute, and I don’t want him to die or get hurt out in the wild.

I have this old doghouse kind of shelter on the side of my house, which is a perfect spot for a stray animal to sleep and stay warm and safe at night. So when I went to put a bunch of blankets and pillows and food and milk in the little house, and to my amazement I found a litter of baby kittens! Right before I peaked into the house, the momma cat took of running trying to make us notice her and not her kittens, so when I put the blankets and food in there, I found her kittens.

Anyways, I brought out a broom and cleaned up a little bit in the house (got the leaves and acorns out) and put the blankets down and the food and left it at that, hoping that the momma cat would appreciate what we did and come around more and let us help her.

We came back the next day, and the momma cat unfortunately moved her kittens to a new spot (don’t know where). We really wanted to take in the mom and the kittens and help them, because the kittens are barely 5 weeks old at that. And they really need food and help.

Anyways, the mom cat still comes around and eats out of our feeder, but still when we try to go near her she takes of running towards the woods (where I think she hid her kittens).

What can I do to get her to come around MORE and for her to like us and want to be around us, so we can take care of her and her kittens? Is there anything I can do to help her understand that we are here to help her and her babies, and not hurt them?

Should i take in a 2yr old squirrel monkey?

Someone on our street is threatning to just leave her monkey in their home when they move. I know animal control will just put him down. What all would it take for me to keep him. I have read a lot and know they need a huge cage, vet care, special diets and a lot of attention. I do plan on having kids soon though and dont want a dangerous animal. Any advise will help thanks.
So no that i have read all of the answsers and suggestions. Where should i take him, does anyone know a place and how should i go about transporting him. I had called animal control and they said primates usually get put to sleep right away and that zoos and resques wont take them because they dont adapt good.

Did I contract rabies?

Ok, so one day my friend, my other friend, and my brother were walking around our building parking lot, hanging out, this is near a woods, then it was around 4 ish pm, a small raccoon came out from the woods, it was very small, thin and the poor thing was limping, hard to walk. it collapsed, layed there and had a seizure. It walked up limping and had another seizure, this poor raccoon probably had rabies. My friends and I followed it, far though like 2 meters and it never noticed us, we went to our parents and called animal control after 1 hour, they came and took it away. Now is it possible that the ground that both I and the raccoon shared have left rabies, perhaps from the saliva or other fluids, i carried the germs in my home, not putting clothes in laundry and not proper hand washing… Should i get shots, my mom said no because i didn’t touch it.

Oh yeah. This happened about 1 year ago, maybe even more! :S But i read that rabies can take years to develop..

Also incident 2:

i was dog sitting a dog and i was walking it, i had not much experience with dogs, so i as walking it, and the dog rolled around in a dead squirrel! I ran home and franticaly washed it with human shampoo. Do you think the animal had rabies and got on the dog, the dog was vaccinated, but I wasnt! ARENT … i AM NOT! SO THE RABIES TRANSFERED ON MY AND THEN I ATE WITH THE DISUISTING NESS OF RABIES! I ATE WITH THE RABIES ON IT! POSSIBILITY? THIS HAPPENED ALSO 1 YEAR AGO(OOPS caps lock on) This happened 1 year ago, but again rabies can take years, and also my other incedint, i was in romania and my uncles dog licked my open wound, it ws a stray but he had it for 9 moonths and it was vaccinated, it may be safe, but what about me? this happened 6 months ago.

Why are the birds dying in my back yard?

I love the sound of birds -from early in the morning til sundown. I feed the neighborhood birds by putting a lot of bird seed on the ground and in my bird feeder which is hanging from a branch. Well within the last week, I have found 3 dead birds.- They look like Orioles (small birds that chirp loud). I buried them in my yard and started a bird cemetery without the markings. I have a clean bird bath that I change the water every single day. I just don’t understand why they are dying in my yard. Of course all the bird seed attracts other kinds of birds like pigeons, black birds and yes even squirrels. I want to keep feeding them but what is causing them to die? Last year, I only lost (1) bird.

Am I an empath? Also, what are some fool proof ways to be sure?

All throughout my life I’ve had deja vu, I’ve had dreams that ended up coming true, and I’ve always been a good listener for people who are dealing with a lot. I always just assumed I was ‘too nice’ but people’s emotions would affect me, sometimes to the point where it was very hard to deal with. That mostly just happened with the man I’m in love with, but the more that i think of it it’s happened with others as well. Here are some traits that I personally possess that make me think I am one. I need some real ways to know for sure, besides just having these signs.

*Animals and children are drawn to me, always have been. I don’t just mean cats and dogs, but also squirrels.

*I can sometimes tell people’s emotions even if they’re hiding them from me, though that mainly again only truly works with the man I’m in love with, because of our intense emotional connection.

*People have always been drawn to me, and they tell me personal things about themselves rather quickly..though I’m sometimes not open to hearing it if I don’t know them well. People find it very easy to open up to me.

*It’s extremely rare that someone dislikes me.

*Other people’s issues and problems make me feel bad, to the point where I actually get very sad for them.

*I do cry at movies and commercials.

*I sometimes feel random pains or get sick for a brief amount of time and I don’t know why.

^^THere’s more, but I looked through a bunch of sites with signs that you can be an empath, and I basically have all of them except the one with pests/spiders staying out of an empath’s house. I have dealt with spiders but who hasn’t? Other than that I’ve had every sign, and I really think I am one…it’s starting to make a lot of sense to me right now. What are some concrete ways to be absolutely sure and not just assuming?
OMG to the first person who posted, yeah you’re right..wow…I haven’t slept at all, and I thought it said ‘psychics’ but it said ‘physics’ wowww..
Algol; I definitely know what you’re saying and I understand..normally I wouldn’t come to this conclusion but sometimes I feel people’s emotions so strongly that it really brings me down. And I mean really. I could have gone in to a deeper expansion of the traits I have but I was just giving an overview, I have every single trait I’ve seen on every list, besides the spider one.

Now I know this question sounds and seems a little, or a lot, far fetched, but my nine year old asked me this. After thinking about it, for some time 2, I realized that no, I haven’t. I see and feed squirrels on a daily basis and have birds in the trees around my house that constantly bombard my SUV. Just about every time U see a horse, it’s tail is lifted or you can see that it’s left a reminder of it’s presence. What gives with the squirrels? Are they modest or gun shy?

How do I get rid of the animal pests living in my attic?

I’ve never had to deal with this before, and would like to hear the experiences of those who’ve had to deal with this problem. I heard a lot of scurrying and movement in the attic last night and I’m thinking it’s either birds or squirrels. (squirrels this time of year?)
