If you could hunt three animals the rest of your life what would they be?

I know it”s painful to only have three, but i was just wondering. Mine would be squirrel, elk, boar.

Are you thinking of the needs of others during this heat wave?

I concentrate on the elderly and the animals. I do errands for the elderly so they do not need to go out. I keep the birdbath filled with clean water and even add ice a few times a day, to keep the water from being boiling. It melts immediately or I wouldn’t do it, for fear of hurting the birds. I have a container on the ground always filled with cool water for squirrels, rabbits and such. Can you tell us what you are doing to help those who depend on others?
I love the answers I am seeing. To answer someone…I am a 57 year old woman. To answer another..I am not bragging. I am trying to remind people that we are the lucky ones who can care for ourselves. And by the way, where I live, no one is evening walking their dogs. They go out with them for brief times and then back to where they are safe and cool. This is NOT a typical summer. Do you live in Alaska, or something?
“chic” I sometimes work 12 hour shifts at the hospital. I also visit 8 camps a week of young children, as a music specialist. I, too, am busy.
“Theresa G” I wrote you a long letter. What I failed to say was that it is not only inhumane of those people to leave a dog outside in this heat. But eith out water!!! It is probably punishable by law. If you need to speak to the police, I pray you will. Something tells me you are a good person!
Be strong and do the only thing you can…save the dog.

have you ever hunted animals?

if so what kind,deer,bear,moose,racoon,squirrel,etc.

Are cats really classified as “free roaming domesticated animals”?

We have been having a problem with stray cats…or cats that do belong to someone but live outside. I have been finding dead birds and squirrels within my fenced backyard. I have called to have someone do something about them, but was told that they are classified as the above, and nothing can be done about them. This is the first time I have ever heard this…..

Why did we choose to domesticate the animals we did?

I’m not really talking about the species we used for hunting or mousing, like dogs, cats and ferrets, I’m talking about the smaller animals we keep as pets…rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, gerbils and rats. Why do you think we chose these species? Why didnt we choose, say, squirrels and possums? The argument that they dont really adapt well to cage life doesnt really fly, because plenty of rabbits are still very wild and many people have tame pet possums (ie, sugar gliders) and squirrels (usually the gliding sort) all over the world.

For my part, I believe rabbits and guinea pigs were domesticated from the meat trade, I guess people just thought they were cute and would make good pets…but then wouldnt we have pet mink if that were the case, and wouldnt chinchillas be much more common?

So what do you think made us choose to domesticate the species we did? And do you think in a few hundred years the likes of sugar gliders and flying squirrels will have become much tamer and available in every pet shop all over the globe?
*rolls eyes* God rattie haters just get so boring. Rats are good pets because they are intelligent (much more so than most small “cute” fluffies), funny, friendly, can be taught tricks, fun to watch, cuddly and yes, cute. Rattie haters are just crazy and prejudiced.

Why have humans now wandered so far away from the rest of nature?

I saw some Squirrels playing with a Chipmunk the other day. Two different animals that never played together before, just played in harmony. Yet, the second I step outside, the Squirrels and chipmunks run. When I go to the park, I see three or four different kinds of birds chirping together, yet when I walk up to them they fly away.

Humans were labled Animals, technically we are animals. Yet, why do animals run from us? Have we lost all sense of harmony with animals? Have we evolved into something to get rid of our peace with animals? Is it because we have killed so many off, that they are just afraid of us?

Adam and Eve could live in harmony with them, and we can’t. What do you think is the reason for our loss of friendship with animals?

my dog vomited a bright yellow liquid. can this be a poison.?

Im concerned because she seemed to not want to eat at first. drank some water and then vomited the bright yellow liquid. I’ve noticed for the past two days or so, that she has more muscle tremors at night than normal. We had an instance last year where we found 3 squirrels dead in our back yard on separate occasions. once we noticed the squirrel had a yellow substance on its mouth. I am worried that someone is intentionally poisoning animals and that my pet may have ingested some.
