Rabid Squirrels

Okay okay, so they were actually really docile. But they were pretty crazy. Please note that none of the squirrels were harmed, and as far as we know, none of them have been harmed or relocated. The keeper of the rest stop we were at is aware and totally okay with people ‘visiting’ the squirrels, or we would have not gotten near them. So there was no harm done. 4/28 #99 – Most Viewed (Today) – Pets & Animals – Canada #18 – Top Favorites (Today) – Pets & Animals #40 – Top Rated (Today) – Pets & Animals 4/29 #6 – Most Discussed (Today) – Pets & Animals #64 – Most Discussed (This Week) – Pets & Animals #79 – Most Viewed (Today) – Pets & Animals – Australia #19 – Most Viewed (Today) – Pets & Animals – Canada #38 – Most Viewed (Today) – Pets & Animals – United Kingdom #81 – Most Viewed (Today) – Pets & Animals – New Zealand #28 – Most Viewed (Today) – Pets & Animals #65 – Most Viewed (Today) – Pets & Animals – Hong Kong #96 – Most Viewed (Today) – Pets & Animals – Taiwan #10 – Top Favorites (Today) – Pets & Animals #9 – Top Rated (Today) – Pets & Animals #94 – Top Rated (This Week) – Pets & Animals 5/1 #25 – Most Discussed (This Week) – Pets & Animals #50 – Top Favorites (This Week) – Pets & Animals #62 – Top Rated (This Week) – Pets & Animals 5/4 #31 – Most Discussed (This Week) – Pets & Animals #83 – Most Viewed (This Week) – Pets & Animals – Canada #100 – Most Viewed (This Week) – Pets & Animals #41 – Top Favorites (This Week) – Pets & Animals #54 – Top Rated (This Week

These squirrels are now going to depend on people feeding them,… have you ever heard the saying DONT FEED THE ANIMALS?

WARNING: You should watch the medical report of a girl who was bitten by one. They have rabies. The girl nearly died because of a slight “flu” feeling and the doctor saved her life by putting her into a coma until it – the disease – passed two weeks later. It was the only way to save her brain while the virus went through all her organs. Shame on you for letting kids be exposed to the disease. There is a 16-year old boy who died because no doctor knew what to do.

I got bit by an overzealous squirrel I was feeding once. It did hurt and drew blood so I cleaned it well, but thought little of it until my neighbor, a doctor, told me I should go to the ER because the squirrel could be rabid. This scared me so much I went. The doctor there said I had 2 options; have rabies shots right away which actually presents a risk in contracting rabies if I didn’t have them, or forgo the shot sand hope for the best. Scary. I chose the latter, and, thankfully I was OK!

PS: This happened in the state of Maine where there was only ONE recorded instance of a rabid squirrel bite. It is unusual for squirrels there to carry rabies, but it is possible. The lesson is, don’t get close to wild animals – ever! Feed them from a distance or leave them alone. A wild animal is just that – wild.

They are smart that’s all, they figured “If we act cute and get close to them, they’ll feed us, screw nut storing this is the 2000′s”, what i bunch of freeloaders. (jk) I wish i would’ve been there.

I realize that you may enjoy feeding the squirrels and stuff, I have done it once too when we were at a park and there were literally 100′s of them climbing on us – but I learned my lesson… it is not smart to feed squirrels!!! They get dependent on humans and then when humans stop feeding them they can die. Plus you DO NOT want to risk the fact of getting a serious disease! SO PLEASE BE SMART AND JUST STOP, these are WILD animals! (No Matter How Cute They Look, Just DON’T!!!)

  17. Rofl, those are the biggest, most obese American fatass squirrels I have ever seen. Then again, they live the equivalent of having someone order them 15 Big Macs each day…
