How would they be related? Squirrels are obviously mammals are therefor have a shared ancestry with all other mammals. It’s beyond unlikely that they would develop all the same traits as mammals while having a completely seperate heritage.

No, based on what we know about vertebrate phylogeny (this includes comparative DNA data), your idea wil not work. Here’s two vertebrate phylogenies. Hint: sqirrels are placental mammals, sharks are cartilaginous fish:

Are you kidding me! First of all there are no similarities, no direct correlation between. In fact sharks don’t have bones they have cartilage. Using your line of argument I can prove that God is like prunes.
When you are young, God was forced by parents and grandparents
When you were young prunes were forced on you by parents grandparents for your health
God, when forced on you in great quantities can give you the Sh!ts
