@ediek915 It would have to be a pretty sick squirrel. Squirrels are not know for eating other animals, let alone squirrels. (Well, mother’s eating babies is another story) but they are not carrion animals. I quote “When faced with extreme hunger, squirrels will also eat bird eggs and snakes.” EXTREME hunger. I doubt this is a situation where seeds, nuts and other vegetarian offerings are scarce. God I’m such a dork.
@geligniteandlilies People can be more than annoying! These squirrels are planting peanuts in my yard and during the summer they grow into peanut plants. I’ve talked to the annoying person who feeds them the peanuts and she gets pissed at me, I wish there was a predator for her.
@lommen1 why does that squirrel protect its dead friend, why does my dog protect my socks when i take them off? why jerry hit tom? these are the questions that puzzle humans about animal activity…we will never understand… ☺<– smile face!
As much as im feeling for that squirrel i can’t help but think it would be awesome to see an eagle swoop down and snatch him in its talons:)

@mja2035 People are annoying animals. There must be a half dozen on my street right now. I wish they had more predators.

you guys are jumping to conclusions, this isnt proof that animals feel grief, it could have a entirely different reason behind it.
i mean, its likely he is protecting the body, but its not fucking “proof” of anything.
