My parents are from southern Mexico, they legally came to America when the amnesty was granted in the 80′s to Mexican citizens and became American citizens. I go to Mexico with them in the summer and my parents are building their retirement home in a wonderful 200 acre plot in the mountains of southern Mexico. The views from these mountains are breathtaking, everything is so green, and far from the noisy cities.
I did noticed something strange, that most of the wildlife in these forests was depleted such as rabbits, quail, and squirrels, and whitetail deer were nowhere to be found. The forests were beautiful but they were empty of wildlife. I then noticed that people hunt these animals all year round and shoot them on sight. There are no seasons for hunting animals and no hunting laws in place.
Why are whitetail deer nearly extinct in Mexico?
